Congratulations to Jay Jacobs! Jay participated in Ironman Virginia on May 5th and did a great time! He looked pretty good doing it too with that Connex jersey!
Have you seen it yet? Connex used some grant money from the City of Portsmouth Hotel/Motel grant last year to order this public service announcement billboard. Informing drivers of the 3 foot law that has recently passed within the last couple of years in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. Please be safe when passing cyclists, walkers and runners. They may very well be a friend of yours!
A very nice write-up in the Portsmouth Daily Times on our Connex member, Nathan Mullins, bike trip from Cleveland to Cincinnati. Nathan is an avid and very strong cyclists and we are very lucky to have him as part of the Connex family! Nathan tackled the 326 mile Ohio Erie bike route solo this spring and was the first for the year to complete the trek. Congratulations to Nathan for his wonderful accomplishment. Nathan also had some very good advice for those that would like to get into cycling.

Thanks to County Engineer Craig Opperman’s assistance (including collaboration with Shawnee State Forest and Shawnee State Park) we now have a marked, designated bike route in Scioto County. It runs from the Mackletree Bridge, at Roosevelt Lake in Shawnee Park, to the Otway Covered Bridge, on St. Rt. 348 and is labeled “B” – The Bridge to Bridge bike route. We thank Mr Opperman for his enthusiasm and effort on accomplishing this first step! What a great Christmas present for Scioto County cyclist!
HB154, the Ohio House Bill requiring motorist to pass a cyclist at least three feet to the left was signed into law yesterday by Governor Kasich. The law will take effect in 90 days. So please motorist, slow down and pass safely when you encounter a cyclist. We are people just like you!
