Biking with Bill moving to 6:00pm starting May 5th & ACE Raceland Rides on Tuesdays

New Start Time of 6:00 pm

Beginning May 5th Biking with Bill will move to a new starting time of 6:00 pm to allow other riders who have expressed an interest in riding but have been unable to attend at the 5:30 time slot. Everything else remains the same. We will meet up on the 4th street parking lot behind Coffee and the Lofts and do our usual 16 mile route. Remember that there are two drop-out opportunities at 5 and 9 miles for those who aren’t quite up to doing the whole thing.

You Are Invited To Join ACE At Their Raceland Rides

On Tuesdays come to Raceland, KY and join the ACE cycling club on their weekly rides. Meet at the old Corner Cone restaurant on the corner of Greenup Ave and Pond Run road. Just take US 23 East from Portsmouth to Raceland and turn left at the red light at the bottom of the dip. The Corner Cone will be on the left at the first stop sign. Rides start at 6:00 pm and is an up and back route for about 18-20 miles. 95% of the ride is flat as a pancake. The worse “hill” is going over a railroad viaduct in Wurtland. The ride takes a rest break in Russell, Ky at the picnic shelter under the Ironton-Russell bridge and then everyone heads back the same way they came. Traffic is low and roads are excellent. There are all levels of riders that ride there weekly. ACE is a local cycling club that originated out of Ashland and has grown to around 200 members scattered from Huntington to Portsmouth. You do not have to be a member to come ride with them. Like Connex, ACE is about promoting a healthy lifestyle and you will not find a more helpful or friendlier group of cyclists who are willing to help you in your interest in cycling.
