Let's get to know each other
Portsmouth Connex is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire the community to be active outdoors and improve the economic viability and appeal of Portsmouth and its surrounding areas. The goal is to promote health and wellness through activities like play, exercise, and social connections. Connex aligns its objectives with the health and economic efforts of the city, Ohio River Way, and other community organizations.
Since its establishment in 2014, Connex has been organizing outdoor events to encourage movement and safety in outdoor activities. The organization hosts special events like Safety Town, Wild Ride, Tour of the Ohio River Valley support, Vintage Bike Show, and Night Hike, as well as regular kayaking, hiking, and biking events throughout the year. Connex is open to partnering with schools, municipalities, Ohio River Way, Shawnee Park and Forest, and other organizations to promote outdoor activities in the Southern Ohio region. Connex has also initiated an Active Transportation Plan, created a multi-use path in Mound Park, and worked with the City of Portsmouth to establish dedicated bike routes.
